these days, i'm defining our sunday meetings as 1) a time for us to bring our worship before God -- meaning that worship is actually the way in which we live obedient lives that give praise to God during the week. and we are able to collectively place that worship before God each sunday as an offering. and 2) we assemble so that we can encourage and hold one another accountable in those obedient lives of worship.

but i don't know how fixed my current answer is in my mind...

I didn't used to have a good answer for that question. When I removed the compulsion of obligation and told myself that I didn't "have" to go to church, I found my answer. But it took some time of actually not going for it to become clear. Once I didn't have to go, I started to want to go. My advice, stop going.
